In Higher Education Institutions, Quality Assurance Units are organised under Senate decisions, which determine composition, organisation and functions.

Functions

The Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) is responsible for:

a. setting out quality policies, strategies and procedures for the ongoing process of enhancing the university quality of teaching and research activities and services, as part of the internal quality assurance system (IQAS),

b. organising, operating and systematically improve the internal quality assurance system,

c. coordinating and supporting evaluation procedures of the academic and non-academic units, and

d. supporting external evaluation and accreditation procedures of study programmes and of the internal quality assurance system, in line with the principles, regulations and guidance of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE).

The internal quality assurance system and implementation procedures, established by the University Council decisions consistent with the Rector’s proposing schemes, are subject to revision every six years and are published in the Government Gazette and on the university website.

In collaboration with the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE), the QA Unit operates an information management system of evaluation reports and is engaged in systematically monitoring and communicating evaluation outcomes and procedures on the university website.

The organisation and functions/responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Unit are set out in the University Internal Regulations. The QA Unit is committed to running and supporting university- and department-based quality assurance and evaluation processes.
