QUALITY ASSURANCE UNIT - UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN MACEDONIA

Quality Assurance (QA) in Higher Education is a core objective for the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), a collaboration of 45 European member states, among which Greece (Law 3374/2005). European Higher Education Institutions are fully committed to catering for high standards of education and fostering responsibility towards students and the society, as far as high quality education standards are concerned.

The Quality Assurance Unit of the University of Western Macedonia is a central coordinating committee for the university quality assurance and accreditation processes. Reorganized in December 2019, it is chaired by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Welfare, Professor Nikolaos Sariannidis, and is composed of five Academic Staff members, one Administrative staff member, one Special Teaching Laboratory Staff member, one Special Technical Laboratory Staff member and one undergraduate student representative.

The UoWM Quality Assurance Unit is engaged in providing a systematic, documented and thorough assessment of teaching and research processes in the various UoWM academic units, Departments and university functions. QA evaluation reports are disseminated with a view to endorsing transparency procedures in the framework of the National Higher Education System; they also aim at highlighting the quality standards and excellence in the University. Evaluation involves the quality of teaching and research activities, study programmes and non-academic services.
