The Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) organizes all University quality assurance and evaluation processes in order to:
- ensure quality in all University study programmes, in line with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance set out by the Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQA)
- monitor all academic, research and administrative University functions by implementing the Internal Quality System of the University and operating the Integrated Information National Quality System
- organise Internal Evaluation Groups (IEG) and schedule University Department evaluations on an annual basis
- compile Annual Internal Evaluation Reports of University Departments and draw up internal reviews to report possible aberrations or failures
- endorse compliance of UoWM functions with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
- support Anti-Corruption policies against bribery at the University of Western Macedonia, according to ISO 37001: 2016
- support Quality Assurance policies, according to ISO 9001: 2015, and according to the International Corporate Social Responsibility Standard ISO 26000.
In addition, the QAU’s presentation and advisory role includes:
- formulating specific and overall strategies to improve the quality of teaching, research and study programmes in line with international practices, and more specifically, those of the European Higher Education Area and the principles and directions of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE).
- determining and drawing up regulations, standards and procedures to improve quality of administrative and student welfare services
- organising and monitoring the UoWM official bodies and informal committees, unions, volunteer groups, etc.
