QA UNIT OBJECTIVES

The Quality Assurance Unit of the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM QAU) is a unit that aims to organise, co-ordinate and implement the Quality Assessment and Assurance procedures of the Institution in full harmonisation and in accordance with the requirements of the legal framework in Greece (Laws 3374/2005; 4009/2011; 4485/2017). Higher Education Institutions are committed to ensuring and continuously improving education and research quality, as well as service effective operation and performance, in line with international practices, and more specifically those of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), and the principles and directions of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE). The Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of every Higher Education Institution caters for achieving all the above goals. QAU is established by the UoWM Senate decision and is comprised of the rector or one of the Vice-Rectors (chair) and twelve members, that is, five Academic Staff members, one representative for each of the different staff categories with voting rights, when issues of the respective category of staff are discussed (Law 4009/2011, articles 28 and 29), one representative of the undergraduate students, one of the postgraduate students and one of doctoral candidates, if any, as specified in the UoWM Organisational Structure.
