QA UNIT INTERNAL EVALUATION GROUPS

The academic units that are subject to evaluation (Departments or Schools) assign Internal Evaluation Groups (IEG), following the Heads' proposals and decisions of the relevant Assembly or Dean, respectively. These groups are comprised of Academic Staff Members of the Department or School, who, preferably, have experience in quality assurance procedures. A student representative, nominated by their competent body, also participates in IEG. The Department Assembly or Board also appoints one of its Members as an IEG Coordinator. The term of office of the Members is four years and can be renewed.

IEG is responsible for: conducting evaluation processes in the relevant department, coordinating and implementing the procedures defined by the Internal Quality Assurance System in cooperation with QAU, as well as dealing with any issue according to law and regulations.
The IEG of each department processes the students' evaluations every semester and prepares a report of positive and negative outcomes. The report includes proposals for resolving the negative points and supporting the positive outcomes, which will contribute to the best possible function of the department. The report is submitted within 45 days from the end of the evaluation period to the Assembly of the Department which decides on its final actions which are submitted to the UoWM Senate and QAU.
IEG is responsible for conducting the internal evaluation process in the relevant department, monitors the completion of questionnaires, informs the bodies and members of the academic unit about the answers and the results of the communication between professors and students. Finally, based on the collected data, it prepares the department internal evaluation report, which is forwarded to QAU.
The internal evaluation is based on the analysis of the total data, which are included in the last annual internal report of each academic unit. The internal evaluation is carried out under the responsibility of each academic unit that is subject to evaluation in collaboration with UoWM QAU. The internal evaluation report of the academic unit composes all the above information in terms of profile, goals and mission. In particular, it contains a critical evaluation analysis of the implementation of the project objectives. It also includes the positive and negative points, the measures that must be taken to achieve the goals, better organise the activities under evaluation, upgrade the awarded degrees and scientific activity, as well as any other measure which ensures and improves the quality of teaching, research or other work provided by each department.

IEG in collaboration with the Study Programme Committee of the Department:

a) Collects and evaluates information sources such as:
• Students' competence and Secondary Education qualifications.
• Study programmes from other well-known Greek and International Universities.
• Consultation with social partners (relevant private and public bodies e.g. chambers etc).
• Consultation with students, current and previous graduates.
• Data of graduates' employment resulting from relevant research and / or communication with public and private sector bodies.
• International trends in the extant literature and emerging cutting-edge disciplines.
• Survey results drawn by department working groups or by visiting experts.
• Monitoring results of the current Undergraduate Study Programme.
• Course evaluation results

b) Submits a report to the Department Assembly justifying the changes based on the sources of information taken into account. The necessity of these changes should be substantiated and should appear in the minutes of the Department with a clear justification, such as scientific advances, compliance with international trends of study programmes, labour market demands, etc.
