QA UNIT RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality Assurance Unit has the following responsibilities, along with those assigned by the UoWM bodies:

  • cooperation with the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE)
  • formulation of specific and overall strategies and the essential procedures for the ongoing process of enhancing the university quality of teaching, research activities and services, as part of the internal quality assurance system (IQAS), and as it is approved by the University Council and revised every six years
  • organisation, operation, and systematic enhancement of the internal quality assurance system of UoWM, as well as accreditation support procedures in line with the principles, regulations, and guidelines of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE)
  • operation of an information management system of the evaluation data, its ongoing enhancement and update, and systematic monitoring and communication of evaluation outcomes and procedures on the QAU web page, in the framework of the principles, regulations, and guidelines of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE)
  • support, coordination, and monitoring of internal and external evaluation procedures of UoWM Academic Units. Specifically, QAU caters for courses and teaching material evaluation, supporting and implementing academic unit evaluation in terms of teaching, research and study programmes quality, as well as quality of other services, i.e., students’ welfare, facilities, etc.
  • implementation of online evaluation of Facilities, Administrative and Welfare Services by administering the same questionnaire to UoWM Academic Staff, Special Laboratory Teaching Staff, Special Laboratory Technical Staff, Administrative Staff, Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, as well as Doctoral Candidates.
  • coordination, organisation, monitoring and scheduling the University Departments annual reports
  • motivation and support of external evaluation procedures of the UoWM academic units, by forwarding to HAHE their Internal Evaluation Reports, as well as facilitating external evaluators in situ visits
  • coordination, organisation and implementation of the internal and external evaluation procedures of the University main and independent services, in which there are Internal Evaluation Groups. Specifically, the Quality Assurance Unit is responsible for the evaluation of UoWM and draws up an Internal Evaluation Report regarding UoWM’s functions every two years, considering the respective annual Internal Evaluation Reports of UoWM’s departments. Moreover, the Quality Assurance Unit is responsible for performing Internal Evaluation procedures of UoWM’s functions, as they are defined and applied
  • forwarding the final External Evaluation Reports to the Academic Units as sent to the Quality Assurance Unit by HAHE
  • procedures for coordination and implementation of the criteria and conditions in the annual revision of individual aspects regarding the content of the Institution curricula within the principles, directions and instructions of HAHE, as well as the Curricula accreditation in accordance with articles 70 - 72 of Law 4009/2011, after QAU’s relevant proposals to the Senate. In addition, QAU may set up special advisory groups, comprised of Academic Staff Members of the relevant School and qualified UoWM staff
  • supervision of the Departments’ compliance to evaluations
  • submission of an annual report regarding QAU’s responsibility delivery and objectives implementation to the Senate
  • development of QAU web page on the UoWM website and regular updates
  • establishment of advisory committees or special groups consisting of Academic Staff Members or other qualified UoWM staff, for the individual needs of the organisation and operation of the evaluation and assessment procedures of the UoWM academic units
  • data collection, processing and promotion in order to assist the work of UoWM competent bodies for the design and implementation of UoWM’s functions and strategic objectives
  • surveys for submitting proposals to UoWM competent bodies, as regards the promotion of quality assurance best practices, and function enhancement of the UoWM academic units and services
  • primary statistics processing and analysis of the data held in the UoWM Quality Assurance Information System
  • comparative statistics analysis
  • data analysis, and comparison of Greek and foreign universities
  • collaborations and synergies with local and international bodies in the areas of its competence
  • organisation of conferences, and other events
  • monthly meetings of the Quality Assurance Unit Committee
  • monthly meetings of the Quality Assurance Unit Committee with all the Internal Evaluation Groups
