ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

ISO 14001:2017 specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that an organisation can use to enhance its environmental performance. It is intended for use by an organisation seeking to manage its environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner that contributes to the environmental pillar of sustainability. Consistent with the organisation's environmental policy, the intended outcomes of an environmental management system include:

  • enhancement of environmental performance
  • fulfilment of compliance obligations
  • achievement of environmental objectives.
Environmentalism should be one of the primary corporate motives today. Sound business practices with minimal impact of its activities on the environment indicate an Institution’s concern towards its society and environment. Environmental practices determine an Institution’s sustainability and its corporate social responsibility. ISO 14001 is an ISO standard that recognised environmental management system. It is a management tool that will aid UoWM to identify and to control the impact of its activities, its products, and services on the environment. It is a structured approach to define environment-oriented goals and will help UoWM to pursue them.
